About Us
St. John the Baptist Church has been a spiritual home in Slough for over 95 years. Founded in 1930, our church has served as a place of worship, refuge, and outreach to the local community. With a deep history, we continue to grow in our mission to spread God’s love and provide support for those in need.

We offer a variety of services and groups during the week. From communion services to family fun; modern worship to traditional ceremony, there's something for everyone.
Below is our general pattern but please check the Home Page for this week's services, especially if you are looking for a particular style of service.
Sundays - 10am 1st Sunday of the month - Café Church Family Service
10am All other Sundays - Holy Communion
Aim to arrive 15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking spot and seat in time for the service to start.
To find out where our church is located, you can find a map on our contact us page. -
You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be at the door to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. Even if you are a bit late, don't be shy - we'll make sure you are settled in!
At St John’s you will be given a service booklet to follow, a hymn book & a notice sheet. Today's hymn numbers are up on the wall, on your notice sheet and will also be announced by the service leader. If you are unsure about joining in, just listen!
At the Café Church Family Service, the words are all up on the Big Screen and we try to make it clear whether the service leader or the congregation are taking turns to speak. But if it's your first time or you're not sure, just enjoy listening to everyone else.
More information about Church Services can be found here -
Children are invited to sit with or without their parents in the children’s area towards the back of church at the children’s craft table where they are welcome to participate in crafts and colouring during the service.
At our Café Church Family Service children stay with their parents as we worship (sing songs!) together.
-
No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.
-
Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
-
Definitely not. You will see the offering plate passed around towards the end of the service and the QR code dotted around as some regular attenders like to give to the work of the church in this way, but contributing is not obligatory.
Meet The Clergy
Rev. Suzanne Johnson
VICAR
Suzanne studied for ordination at Ripon College Cuddesdon. Prior to ordination Suzanne was a Lay Reader for some 20 years. In her secular life Suzanne was a registrar and has been, and still is, a church administrator since the early 1990s (Suzanne, working alongside a colleague, pioneered the role in the diocese of London).
A scuba diver for many years, Suzanne enjoys beach holidays, musical theatre, going to the cinema and dancing. She is a keen ‘soap’ watcher, and an avid reader of crime novels. She loves a pub quiz and playing board games; but beware, she always plays to win! Suzanne also loves to laugh and tries not to take herself too seriously! As a House for Duty vicar Suzanne does not receive a stipend so alongside her parish responsibilities she works part-time at a URC church in Slough town centre as their church administrator and building manager.
Suzanne is always available to support, care for, and walk with anyone and everyone – even if you only want a cup of tea and a chat!
